De Dash The Pilgrims' Way

The De Dash is approaching, the Hook of Holland - Dunkerque light spin. We thought we'd get some miles in on this side of the channel on our return journey. The rail fares are extortionate from Dover so save a few bob and burn some rubber following in the footsteps of, er, Pilgrims. There was not a lot to do back in the olden days and so Pilgrims spent a great deal of time simply walking about.

The Pilgrims Way makes up a fair distance between Dover and Rochester though some of it may be on the road, or a cycle path or 'off road' but from the mappage available if the going gets muddy and tough it's seems easy to drop down on to quiet backroad.

The path has a branch line to Canterbury. This is a very old city, and a venue for much in the way of goings on from Roman times, its origins going back two thousand years when the first settlement was built to take advantage of the new railway that was passing nearby.

Ride 100 Augsut 10th

Like a whole load of other people who'll be putting a lot of hard work in to raise a whole load of money for a whole load of great causes, I'll be at the start line at the Olympic Industrial and Retail Park on August 10th.
Fundraising page all sorted for

From small acorns grow big snowballs!

And thank you Sis for getting the pot going with that whopping quarter-ton.

This is second time around for me. I aim to cut 15 mins off last year's 6.44 by not stopping at Mcdonalds, Fat Pat's Pizza and Ken's Kebabs. I'll make do with some nut bars or something equally as inedible. Here is last year's blog of the efforts I put in to get myself over the finish.

Good luck to those of you out there having a pop yourself!
